Bihar BJP chief accuses CM Nitish and his party of getting Rs10,000 crore from liquor mafia

By Rohit Kumar Singh: Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary has accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party JDU of getting Rs10,000 crore of funds from the liquor mafia operating in the state ever since liquor prohibition was imposed in 2016.

“Through home delivery of liquor, which was rampant in Bihar, the liquor mafia has provided Rs10,000 crore to Nitish Kumar and JDU. This is a scam worth Rs 10,000 crore in the state. The government, in collusion with the liquor mafia, was indulging in the sale of liquor in the state, the proceeds of which were going to JDU,” alleged Samrat Choudhary.

Hitting out against the allegations of Choudhary, JDU said that his comments only show that the BJP was against liquor prohibition in the state. “Allegations levelled by Samrat Choudhary are baseless and fictitious. I challenge him to present facts, if he has any, to support his allegations. If Samrat Chaudhary does not attack Nitish Kumar, then why will the media take notice of him,” JDU leader Abhishek Kumar Jha said while speaking to the media in Patna.

Samrat Choudhary reiterated that the BJP will romp home to victory in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections of 2024 and will also form the government in Bihar in 2025. “I can assure you that even a common worker in the party can become the CM of the state and he will be a better choice than Nitish Kumar. Now, the BJP will not help the leader of any other political party to become CM and will form its own government in the state”, Chaudhary added.

In 2022, JDU broke ties with its ally BJP in Bihar and formed a new government with the support of RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, HAM-S, CPI and CPM. Currently, the effective strength of the Bihar Assembly is 242 and any party or alliance requires 122 seats to prove its majority in the assembly.
