By Saurabh Vaktania: Reacting to the veteran politician Sharad Pawar’s resignation from the president post of the Nationalist Congress Party, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said Pawar’s decision to step down won’t dent the unity of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
In the revised edition of his autobiography ‘Lok Mazhe Sangati,’ Sharad Pawar accused Uddhav Thackeray of failing to resolve the discontent in his party and stepping down as CM without a fight.
Miffed over what was written by Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray said, “I don’t want to comment on Sharad Pawar’s resignation. Everyone has the right to write an autobiography. People of Maharashtra very well know what work I have done. Therefore, they consider me as their own family member.”
“Sharad Pawar has the right to take his decision and every worker of the party has the right to convey a message. Let’s wait for the 5th meeting of the NCP,” Thackeray said.
Sharad Pawar (82) left his party leaders and workers shellshocked on Tuesday when he announced during the launch of his revised autobiography ‘Lok Majhe Sangati’ that he would be stepping down. He also set up a party committee to decide on his successor.
The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), NCP and Congress are partners in the MVA. The government headed by this alliance ruled Maharashtra from November 2019 to June 2022.

‘NOT AGAINST PM MODI’
Uddhav Thackeray also asserted that he is not against Prime Minister Narendra Modi but against the dictatorship group running the country.
Responding to PM Modi’s ‘first they locked up Ram, now Hanuman’ remarks, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said, “Several years back they had taken away the voting right of Balasaheb Thackeray because he supported Hindutva. Now that PM Modi has said Bajrang Bali ki Jai while voting. I don’t know how this could be done in a democracy.”
Slamming both the Congress and the BJP for making ‘Bajrang’ an issue in poll-bound Karnataka, Uddhav said, “I will urge Marathi-speaking people in Karnataka to say ‘Jai Bhavani, ‘Jai Shivaji’. There was no need for Congress to bring in the Bajrang Dal issue.”
