He stated that while Pawar was adamant about his decision to resign, the party leaders conveyed to him that he should continue until the next election.
“Many people have joined the NCP because of Sharad Pawar’s leadership. People from all over Maharashtra and other parts of the country have requested him to take back his decision to resign,” Patil said.

Responding to the allegations made in Uddhav Sena’s mouthpiece, which suggested that Pawar resigned because many NCP leaders wanted to join the BJP, Jayant Patil said: “Tomorrow, there will be an important meeting of the committee appointed by Sharad Pawar to decide on the next successor, and all eyes will be on the outcome of the meeting.”
Sharad Pawar dropped a bombshell on May 2 by announcing his intent to quit as national president of the party. The announcement, at the launch of the updated edition of Pawar’s biography in Marathi, came at a time when nephew Ajit Pawar is said to be in talks with the BJP, leading to a flux within the NCP.
