Don’t let bureaucracy, politics kill your business

Creating a company culture free of bureaucracy and politics should be high on every CEO’s list, says Sudhir Agarwal, founder and chief executive of outsourcing firm Everise.

There are many things to consider when starting a business, but creating a healthy company culture should be high on the list.

It was certainly high on the priority list for Sudhir Agarwal, founder and CEO of technology outsourcing firm Everise.

“One of the biggest reasons why I started my own venture was to create a culture in the company where there is zero politics, there is zero bureaucracy,” Agarwal told CNBC’s Make It.

Agarwal said he wanted to create a team that was “performance-driven, and where people are recognized for the work and the effort they do.”

“This is truly reflected in our Glassdoor ratings, which is one of the highest in our industry,” he said.

As well as making the company a better place to work, Agarwal also said that it makes the team more productive.

“In a lot of companies, a lot of time is wasted in politics and bureaucracy, and people actually not doing what they’re supposed to do, but spending time on convincing multiple boards and forums,” he said. “And I’m very happy to say that in Everise, we have a culture where that doesn’t exist.”

This is just one of Sudhir Agarwal’s five biggest lessons. Watch the video above for more.
