By Ashutosh Mishra: Thousands of farmers will arrive in Jantar Mantar on May 7 in a show of solidarity with wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Singh, accused of sexual harassment.
The farmers, under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, have announced national-wide agitation and protest programmes in support of female wrestlers.
The announcement came a day ahead of the Maha Panchayat called by Khap organisations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to support the wrestlers.
The farmers union has demanded immediate action against Brij Bhushan Singh, also a BJP MP, who faces two FIRs, including one under the Pocso Act.
On May 7, several senior leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh, along with hundreds of farmers, will visit the protest site at Jantar Mantar to extend their support to the wrestlers.

SKM leaders are also expected to lead a delegation to the Delhi Police Commissioner, Union sports minister, Union home minister, demanding Brij Bhushan Singh’s arrest.
From May 11-18, the farmers union will organise a pan-India agitation in all state capitals and district headquarters.
The SKM also accused the Delhi Police of not acting with due sensitivity and condemned the denial of basic civil rights to protesting wrestlers.
India’s top wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and other prominent grapplers have been staging a sit-in protest since April at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accusing him of sexual harassment and intimidation. The wrestlers have been eating and sleeping at the protest site and have also started their training sessions there.
However, Singh has claimed the protest was part of a conspiracy to tarnish his image.
