By India Today News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a rally in Rajasthan’s Abu Road on Wednesday, tore into the Congress and accused the party of risking the lives of members of Hakki Pikki tribe stuck in Sudan.

The prime minister said in view of elections, Congress created a “ruckus” and risked lives of these tribals by identifying them in Sudan.

“At the time when some members of the Hakki Pikki tribe from Karnataka were stuck in Sudan and the BJP government was trying to evacuate them, Congress in view of elections in the country started creating a ruckus about it and risked lives of these tribals by identifying them in Sudan,” PM Modi said.

He added, “Congress thought that one of the members of this community might get harmed in Sudan and this would give them an advantage in the elections. But Congress forgot that Modi can cross any limit for the safety of every Indian.”

The members of Hakki Pikki tribe of Karnataka were evacuated from Sudan through Operation Kaveri.

Further hitting out at the Congress, PM Modi accused the party of being insensitive towards the tribal community.

“The Hakki Pikki tribe has a close relation with Maharana Pratap. Reminded the people of how Congress was insensitive towards this tribal community for selfish gains,” PM Modi said.
