By India Today News Desk: The Lokayukta police in Madhya Pradesh conducted a raid at the house of a woman assistant engineer in Bhopal in connection with a case of disproportionate assets. They recovered various items, including one TV set that cost Rs 30 lakh, several foreign breed dogs and 10 luxury cars, from her possession.
The engineer, Hema Meena, who is the assistant engineer in-charge on contract with the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation (MPPHC), had a monthly salary of Rs 30,000.
According to officials, she was found possessing assets that are 232% disproportionate, which means that the engineer should have had a salary of Rs 18 lakh, instead of the present Rs 30,000.
WHY THE RAID WAS CONDUCTED?
According to Lokayukta DSP Sanjay Shukla, a complaint against Hema Meena was received in 2020 for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets. After the complaint was received, an investigation was initiated, following which the raid was conducted on Thursday.

SEQUENCE OF EVENTS LEADING TO RAID
A team of 50 people from the Lokayukta’s Special Police Establishment (SPE), wearing plain civil clothes, reached her residence to conduct the raid. However, the guards there stopped them. The Lokayukta police team told the guards they were from the animal husbandry department. They also said they came to check the solar panels installed in the bungalow.
When the team went inside the bungalow, they found Hema Meena. They detained her and asked her to sit in a room. Her mobile phone was seized and the team started the raid.
WHAT ALL WAS RECOVERED?
Hema Meena lives in a 40-room bungalow built on 20,000 square feet of land registered in her father’s name in Bilkhiriya near Bhopal. Its cost is estimated to be more than Rs 1 crore. Apart from this, more than 50 foreign breed dogs, including Pitbull and Dobermann, were found from her farm house, which are worth lakhs.
About 60-70 cows of different breeds were also recovered.
The woman engineer used a walkie-talkie to speak to her co-workers and seniors present in the sprawling bungalow. The walkie-talkie has been seized by the Lokayukta police team.
ROTI-MAKING MACHINE
During the raid, a roti-making machine worth Rs 2.50 lakh was found in her residence. The machine was used for making rotis to feed the dogs.

SMART TV, VEHICLES SEIZED
Hema Meena’s bungalow was full of luxury items. One smart TV set worth Rs 30 lakh was recovered from her room. The TV was not in use and packed in a box. Apart from the TV, 10 luxury vehicles, including two trucks, one tanker and a Mahindra Thar, were also recovered from the engineer’s bungalow.
GOT A JOB A DECADE AGO
A divorcee, Hema Meena is a resident of Chapna village in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district. She got a contractual job in 2011. Presently, she is posted as the assistant engineer in-charge of MPPHC.
OTHER THINGS FOUND
Government equipment worth lakhs belonging to the housing board were found by the Lokayukta police team in Hema Meena’s farm house. Agricultural equipment worth lakhs, expensive liquor and cigarettes were also seized.
A dairy farm near the farm house was also found.
There is a possibility of involvement of other officers in the matter. Further investigation is on.
