By Rajesh Saha: Though the West Bengal government has banned ‘The Kerala Story’ in the entire state, Bengal’s leading opposition party BJP’s women wing has decided to screen the film for the women of the state. The announcement regarding the same was made by Bhartiya Janata Party’s state Mahila Morcha president Falguni Patra.
“The events depicted in the movie are based on true events but Mamata Banerjee does not want to let the truth come out. People are getting excited to watch the movie after it was banned in West Bengal by Mamata Banerjee. This film is being circulated through various platforms in social media,” Falguni Patra said while announcing the screening of the movie.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her decision to ban the ‘The Kerala Story’ in Bengal.
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti reached Shyamnagar in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal on Friday for her program in Shyamnagar.
“Mamata Banerjee should take a lesson that if the present generation is not shown the atrocities happening in the country, how will they be aware? I welcome the apex court’s verdict and Mamata Banerjee should open her eyes,” she said after the conclusion of her program.
This week on Wednesday (May 10), the Bengal unit of BJP had organised a special screening of ‘The Kerala Story’.
The screening was organised at BJP’s Baruipur district office. Falguni Patra, along with the party’s women wing workers, were present at the screening.
Producers of ‘The Kerala Story’ have already approached the Supreme Court, challenging the order of the Bengal government to ban the movie.
All the cinema halls in West Bengal halted the screening of the movie as soon as the state government issued a notification regarding the govt order.
