By India Today News Desk: A man was killed while another was critically injured in a cross-firing between two rival groups, in an alleged case of a gang war in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Friday. The incident occurred in Piplanwala on Jalandhar Road, where two groups clashed allegedly over old enmity and exchanged gunfire.
The two groups led by Channa and Sajan had arranged a meeting in Piplanwala to resolve the dispute between them. However, instead of resolving their differences, the situation escalated, and both sides clashed and opened fire at each other.
The group led by Sajan, was stationed in the middle of the highway in a busy market area, while the other group led by Channa arrived at the scene and fired shots.
During the fight, Sajan was fatally shot in the head, while Channa sustained critical injuries. Sajan died and Channa was rushed to a civil hospital but was later referred to a private hospital due to his serious condition.
Further investigations are on.
