By India Today News Desk: Bhartiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao on Saturday congratulated Congress for registering a thumping win in Karnataka Assembly polls. He also thanked the people of Karnataka for “rejective divisive and ugly politics”, as BJP trails behind in the state.
Drawing an analogy with ‘The Kerala Story’, KTR also said the election results will have no bearing on the upcoming Telangana assembly elections, slated for later this year.

“Just the way Kerala Story failed to amuse people of Karnataka, similarly Karnataka election results will have NO bearing on Telangana. Thanks to the people of Karnataka for rejecting ugly & divisive politics,” he said in a tweet.
“Let Hyderabad and Bengaluru compete healthily for investments & creating infrastructure for the greater good of India,” he further wrote.
KTR’s statement comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Sudipto Sen-directed ‘The Kerala Story’, with critics arguing it attempts to villify Muslims as a community. On the other hand, the film has been receiving praise from several BJP leaders and Hindu groups.

Meanwhile, Karnataka saw a largely triangular contest between the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and the Janata Dal Secular (JD(S). According to trends, the grand old party is inching towards a thumping win in the state. Congress marked its victory as it won 136 seats, BJP won 65 and JD(S) won 19 in the 224-constituency assembly.
Besides, BJP and BRS have always been at loggerheads in Telangana, with the saffron party looking to unseat the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led party from power.
