BJP’s Sukanta Majumdar takes dig at Mamata Banerjee over her ‘diploma doctors’ remark

By Anirban Sinha Roy: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Sukanta Majumdar on Saturday took a dig at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, saying the state needs 4 to 5 civic CMs, just like civic volunteer police. His jibe came in light of an earlier remark made by Banerjee, where she propsed Diploma Doctors and Nurses in government run hospitals.

“The way the state government is trying to get civic doctors in the state, I think there should be 4 to 5 civic CMs as well. Each of them would hold the CM post for a duration of six months,” he said during his visit to North Dinajpur’s Kaliaganj.

Talking about BJP’s defeat in the Karnataka Assembly election, Majumdar said, “With time, the government also changes in politics, which is not unusual. If it was Trinamool Congress, it would have won by looting votes but we will not win by stealing votes. We can still form a government if we want.”

Congress registered a thumping win in the 224-constiuency assembly by bagging 135 seats. Meanwhile, BJP only managed to win on 65 and JD(S) on 19 seats.

Sukanta Majumdar also reacted to Bollywood actor Salman Khan meeting Mamata Banerjee. He said, “The chief minister (Mamata) considers herself the prime minister and hence wants attention from across the nation. This is why she met Salman Khan, but I don’t know why Bhaaijan came to her house.”

“Mamata Banerjee has no problem with the fact that 36,000 people are losing their jobs in the state, but wants to gain some popularity,” he further added.
