5 children drown in Krishna Sagar Lake in Gujarat’s Botad

By India Today News Desk: At least five children drowned in Krishna Sagar Lake in the Botad district of Gujarat on Saturday. According to reports, two children were swimming in the lake when they started drowning.

Three other children present on the spot jumped into the lake to save them. However, they also drowned. All the deceased are minors. Locals informed the police at around 4:30 pm.

As soon as the police reached the spot, a rescue operation was carried out, but the children could not be saved. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

“Five children died by drowning in Krishna Sagar Lake outside Botad town. Two children were swimming in afternoon when they started drowning. Three others present at the spot jumped into water to save them but they also drowned. Age of all is between 16-17 years. Further investigation is underway,” Botad SP Kishor Balolia was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.
