By India Today News Desk: As Cyclone Mocha made landfall along the coastlines of Bangladesh and Myanmar on Sunday, Disaster Management Force personnel have been deployed in West Bengal as well. The coastal areas of Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas districts are on high alert.
The Digha-Mandarmani coastal areas are also on alert with NDRF teams including divers on standby, a PTI report said.
Regulations have been issued for people to not go near the sea. Over 100 state disaster management group personnel have also been deployed in Bakkhali sea beach to keep an eye on them.
The Sunderbans have breaches in its embankments, which are being closed as a precaution. Besides, police and administration have put in use loud speakers to warn people from getting near the sea.

“Though the weather office has predicted that Cyclone Mocha will dodge past West Bengal, we have taken all precautionary measures in case there is any change,” an official told PTI.
Arrangements have been made to evacuate residents of coastal areas in Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas districts as the cyclone is expected to make landfall later on Sunday (May 14).
As of Sunday afternoon, Cyclone Mocha was 250 kilometres south of Cox’s Bazar and was crossing the coast. It made landfall in Bangladesh near Coxbazar and North Myanmar coast.
