By India Today News Desk: Rahul Gandhi is set to visit the USA on May 31, sources said on Tuesday. According to the details, the Congress leaders will visit the country for a period of 10 days.
On June 4, Rahul Gandhi will hold a rally of about 5,000 NRIs in New York’s Madison Square Garden, news agency ANI reported.
Rahul Gandhi will also go to Washington and California for a panel discussion and speech at Stanford University.
The Congress leader will also meet politicians and entrepreneurs.
In March 2023, Rahul Gandhi made headlines as he returned from London after giving speeches at Cambridge University, critical of the government and throwing light on Indian democracy.
“Everybody knows and it’s been in the news a lot that Indian democracy is under pressure and under attack. I am an Opposition leader in India, we are navigating that (Opposition) space,” Rahul Gandhi had said at Cambridge University in the UK.
“The institutional framework which is required for a democratic Parliament, free press, the judiciary, just the idea of mobilisation, moving around all are getting constrained. So, we are facing an attack on the basic structure of Indian democracy,” he had said.
The remarks by the Congress MP gave fresh ammunition to the ruling BJP, who demanded an apology from Gandhi.
