By Suryagni Roy: Bhangar in South 24 Parganas has been infamous for political violence over the years. Once a Trinamool Congress (TMC) bastion, the Assembly seat was won by Indian Secular Front (ISF), which was the sole seat they were able to win. Since then, the TMC and ISF have been at loggerheads, with multiple instances of violence being reported.
Recently, Arabul Islam, former MLA of Bhangar and heavyweight TMC leader stoked a controversy by stating that leaders like Naushad (ISF MLA) will be bashed up by TMC workers in the future.
“The ones who came to Bhangar and bashed up TMC workers have left for Furfura and they have not returned yet. Naushad, let me tell you clearly, you are trying to destabilize peace in Bhangar with your men from Furfura. In future, we will bash up Naushads like you on the streets of Bhangar,” TMC’s Arabul Islam said.

Naushad Siddiqui, ISF MLA, who was victorious from Bhangar, in retaliation to Arabul’s statements, said that Arabul Islam was trying to impress the higher-ups in Trinamool Congress.
“Bucket filled with bombs were recovered from the backyard of the person who is making such statements. And who is supporting these statements? Saukat Mollah, one whose name was published in the NHRC report for violence post 2021 elections. They are doing these to please the higher ups in Trinamool Congress,” Naushad Siddiqui said.
Naushad further questioned why the administration does not take any action against such statements.
“Can’t the Trinamool Congress hear what these leaders say, at a time, they speak of peace? Why doesn’t the administration or police take action for these comments?” Naushad Siddiqui asked.
