By Siraj Qureshi: A school teacher from Agra on Tuesday was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually harrasing a group of female students.
The group of minor girls had complained about the teacher to the District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal at the district headquarters. The girls were accompanied by an RTI activist who urged the students to report the teacher’s inappropriate behaviour.
The students said that the teacher touched their private parts under the guise of a body search and made “lewd” comments about them.

The girls had reported the matter to their parents who then approached the police. The accused was arrested on May 13 but was released on that same night.
After the students took their complaint to the District Magistrate on Tuesday, the Police Commissioner Agra directed for a case to be filed against the teacher. The matter is now under investigation.
