A full emergency is declared when an aircraft is approaching an airport with the danger of an accident taking place.

This comes just days after a full emergency was declared in Delhi airport after a Dubai-bound FedEx aircraft suffered a bird hit soon after take-off. The aircraft landed safely and resumed its journey after inspection.

Airport authorities said the bird strike took place at a height of 1,000 feet.
