By Rajesh Saha, Suryagni Roy: Amid a raid conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at his premises, TMC MLA Jiban Krishna Saha allegedly threw two of his mobile phones in a pond adjacent to his residence.
A CBI source said that the MLA from the Burwan constituency, in desperation, chucked the devices after he snatched his two mobiles from CBI sleuths. The TMC leader was being questioned in connection with the teachers’ recruitment scam in West Bengal.
A search operation was launched to locate the devices. So far, six bags have been recovered by the CBI from a pond near the TMC MLA’s residence.
A team from the central probe agency along with the central security force reached his residence in Murshidabad district on Friday. A source revealed that several incriminating documents related to candidates’ recruitment were recovered from his property and were seized by the probe agency.

“It is so important to find those mobile phones to get more evidence regarding his involvement in the scam. Digital data and evidence can be recovered from those phones,” said the CBI source.
In fact, on Friday, the CBI decided to draw water from the pond.
A pump was installed to extract water from the pond. In the morning on Saturday, two more motor pumps were installed into the pond to speed up the process.
