By Siraj Qureshi: As many as 11 people were injured after two groups clashed during the procession taken out on Dr Ambedkar’s birth anniversary in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura. Certain miscreants shouted disparaging remarks during Dr Ambedkar’s procession in Bhartia village of Police Station Jaint in the Chaumuha area of Mathura, resulting in a confrontation between the two sides.
Due to this, stone pelting took place and there was a stampede in the procession, which came to a halt. Glass bottles were thrown from both sides, injuring 11 individuals.
Many security and police officers were also hurt. Officers transported injured constables Kaushal Yadav, Rajendra Singh, and Divesh Chaudhary to a local hospital.
ADM Yoganand Pandey, SDM Sweta Singh, Magistrate Manoj Varshney, and other administrative authorities arrived and took stock of the situation. Several RAF personnel have been deployed in the city to maintain the law and order situation.

A similar event occurred in Hathras district, where three Ambedkar statues were vandalised. When Dalits in the city learned that Ambedkar’s shrines had been vandalised, they became enraged and stores were shut.
A case has been filed against both parties at the Kotwali police station. The district administration has guaranteed that new statues will be installed today.
