Centre issues directions to set SOPs for safety of journalists

After gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother were shot dead at point-blank range by three people who posed as mediapersons with dummy cameras, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Home Ministry have issued directions to prepare standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of journalists. Both Atiq Ahmed and his brother were shot live on camera, visuals of which have gone viral which shows mediapersons running helter-skelter for safety as the three unidentified men fired 20 rounds.
