By Anupam Mishra: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested TMC MLA Jiban Krishna Saha in connection with the teachers’ recruitment scam, after being questioned for 65 hours (nearly three days) by the central probe agency.
According to CBI sources, the TMC legislator was allegedly not cooperating in the investigation.
Saha was being grilled at his residence in Murshidabad district and was taken to Kolkata by a special team of CBI on Monday morning. The questioning began at 12 pm on Friday (April 14).
The TMC MLA is the third legislator from the Mamata Banerjee-led party to be arrested in the case, after Saha Manik Bhattacharya and Partha Chatterjee.

A team from the CBI, along with the central security forces, reached his residence in Murshidabad district. A source revealed that several incriminating documents related to candidates’ recruitment were recovered from his property and were seized by the probe agency.
MLA HAD THROWN PHONES IN DESPERATION
During the raids, Saha allegedly threw two of his mobile phones in a pond adjacent to his residence. A CBI source said the MLA chucked the devices, in desperation, after he snatched them from the probe agency officials.
During the search operation, the central probe agency recovered one phone of Saha from the pond while the second phone is yet to be recovered. A pump was installed to extract water from the pond. Two more motor pumps were later installed into the pond to speed up the process of recovering the mobile phones.
“It is so important to find those mobile phones to get more evidence regarding his involvement in the scam. Digital data and evidence can be recovered from those phones,” said the CBI source.
