By India Today News Desk: A girl with the Tricolour painted on her face was denied entry into the Golden Temple. A video of t6he incident went viral on Monday.
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee general secretary apologised over the incident and said the flag painted on the woman’s face wasn’t a Tricolour.
“This is a Sikh shrine. Every religious place has its own decorum…We welcome everyone…We apologise if an official misbehaved…The flag on her face was not our national flag as it didn’t have Ashoka Chakra. It could have been a political flag,” Gurcharan Singh Grewal, General Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, said.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee official’s reaction came after a video showing a girl being denied entry into the Golden Temple went viral.
In the video, the Golden Temple staffer, who denied entry to the girl, is heard saying “it isn’t India, it is Punjab”.
Many people who visit the Attari-Wagah border for the Beating Retreat ceremony get their faces painted in Tricolour and then visit the Golden Temple. This could be one such case.
