Ready to face legal action: BJP’s Annamalai after being served Rs 500 crore notice over graft allegations

[ad_1]

By Pramod Madhav: The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu had issued a legal notice against state BJP chief K Annamalai over his graft allegations against the party and its president MK Stalin. The DMK demanded an apology and damages to the tune of Rs 500 crore.

Responding to DMK’s legal notice, K Annamalai on Monday said he is ready to face all legal actions.

DMK SERVES LEGAL NOTICE

The notice, dated April 15, was issued by senior advocate and DMK Rajya Sabha MP, P Wilson, “under instructions” from Bharathi. The legal notice stated that Annamalai, unable to make a political mark in Tamil Nadu, was attempting in various ways to defame DMK leaders and the ‘DMK Files’ video clip is only placing baseless accusations against them. The notice said that the asset value of DMK was exaggerated and shown as Rs 1,408.94 crore.

The legal notice also claimed that the video had shown the properties belonging to a person as that of the party.

RS Bharathi, through the legal notice, also questioned the Rs 5,270 crore electoral bonds allegedly provided to the BJP.

The DMK has sought an apology from K Annamalai and has asked him to remove the ‘DMK Files’ video from BJP social media accounts.

K ANNAMALAI RESPONDS

Responding to DMK’s legal notice and demand of Rs 500 crore to the party, K Annamalai said he will not remove the video from social media and asserted that he is ready to face all legal action.

K Annamalai said that the DMK has sought Rs 500 crore as compensation, the same way as they demanded Rs 500 crore for exposing BGR related scam and Rs 100 crore for DMK leader M K Stalin’s Dubai trip.

DMK organizational secretary is demanding Rs 500 crore even after DMK men have several crores, K Annamalai said.

Taking a dig at RS Bharathi, K Annamalai said, “I thank RS Bharathi for fully watching my press conference on DMK Files and for sharing the link on the legal notice.”

“I have the complete evidence over the Chennai Metro scam during former DMK rule and will submit it to CBI,” he said.

He further added, “I urge RS Bharathi to stay patient until the DMK leader and others involved get summons.”

“RS Bharathi also placed an accusation stating that I got Rs 84 crore from Arundhati Finance Company. As this is a baseless accusation placed against me and the BJP, I demand Rs 500 crore and Re 1 as compensation which I will deposit in PM Cares fund,” Annamalai said, adding that he will take legal action if RS Bharathi does not provide adequate explanation for the accusations against him and the BJP in the next 48 hours.

DIVERSION TACTICS: TN EDUCATION MINISTER ON ANNAMALAI’S ALLEGATIONS

Tamil Nadu Education Minister Anbil Mahesh responded to the allegations made by the BJP state president, Annamalai, stating that they are mere diversion tactics. Annamalai had claimed that Anbil Mahesh possessed assets worth Rs 1023 crore, which the education minister has denied.

Anbil Mahesh challenged Annamalai to sell his assets worth Rs 1000 crore and donate the proceeds towards purchasing free textbooks for government schools across Tamil Nadu. The Minister further stated that if Annamalai fails to prove his allegations, he will have to pay Rs 500 crore as compensation.

“He (Annamalai) has said that Anbil Mahesh’s assets are worth Rs 1023 cr. HQ has sent him a notice that if he’s not able to prove this, he’ll have to pay Rs 500 crore as compensation. You are saying that I have Rs 1023 crore. You yourself sell them and give me the money. There are 38,000 government schools in Tamil Nadu. I’ll spend Rs 2.5 lakh on each school and buy them books. Let the students and their parents read and understand how much you have lied,” said Anbil Mahesh.

He added, “All this is being said to divert the people as they are being brought together under the Dravidian model government.”
