Wasn’t Tricolour: Gurdwara panel on girl with flag painted on face denied entry to Golden Temple

[ad_1]

By India Today News Desk: After a video of a girl being denied entry into Amritsar’s Golden Temple for having the Tricolour painted on her face went viral, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal apologised for any misbehaviour and said the flag painted on the girl’s face wasn’t the Tricolour.

“This is a Sikh shrine. Every religious place has its own decorum…We welcome everyone…We apologise if an official misbehaved…The flag on her face was not our national flag as it didn’t have Ashoka Chakra. It could have been a political flag,” Grewal said.

Gurcharan Singh Grewal said that it is a matter of great shame that people are tweeting about it. All the devotees who come from different parts of the country and abroad to Sri Harmandir Sahib respect them.

“Sikhs played an important role in the freedom of the country, but every time it is Sikhs who are targeted,” he added.

His reaction came after a video showing a girl being denied entry into the Golden Temple went viral.

In the video, the Golden Temple staffer, who denied entry to the girl, is heard saying, “it isn’t India, it is Punjab”.
