By Munish Chandra Pandey: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday in connection with the teachers’ recruitment scam despite court relief.
In a major relief, the Supreme Court had stayed the Calcutta High Court’s April 13 order directing the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate to interrogate Abhishek Banerjee and file a report based on that.
The summons was hand-delivered today at 1.45 pm, per TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

But sources told India Today that the CBI branch, which issued the summons to Abhishek Banerjee, was not aware of the court order and the central agency will abide by the top court order.
In its April 13 order, the Calcutta High Court had directed the West Bengal Police not to lodge any first information report (FIR) against CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers probing the school jobs-for-bribes scam.
It had asked the central agencies to probe the role of Abhishek Banerjee saying such an “interrogation should be made soon”.
