By India Today News Desk: The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh Police over the killing of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf by three shooters who posed as journalists in Prayagraj on Saturday.
Taking cognisance of the complaints, the human rights commission has issued notices to UP DGP, Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj, calling for reports within four weeks on the murder of Atiq Ahmed while in police custody.
The NHRC has sought a detailed report covering all the aspects leading to death, a copy of the complaint, a FIR registered against the deceased, the post mortem report, among other things.

The commission has called for the video cassette/CD of post mortem examination, site plan of scene of occurrence giving all the details, chemical and histopathology examination, final cause of death based on the FSL report and magisterial enquiry report.
Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men in the middle of a media interaction on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup.

The brothers, both jailed in Prayagraj, were in handcuffs when they were killed in full view of camera crews around 10 pm.
The last rites of Ahmed’s son Asad, who was gunned down in a police encounter in Jhansi on April 13, were performed just hours before the shooting.
