By Milan Sharma: With just a day to go before Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the inaugural session of the Global Buddhist Summit on April 20 in Delhi’s Hotel Ashok, it is still unclear whether the Dalai Lama will attend the summit on Day 1 of the event.
All eyes are on the event after a controversial video of the Dalai Lama went viral on social media where he was heard asking a boy to suck his tongue.
Buddhists from 30 nations, including 150 delegates from India, will attend the event being organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation. Invites have been sent to delegates in China and Tibet as well.

However, China will likely skip the conference, sources said.
The theme of the two-day summit is “Responses to Contemporary Challenges: Philosophy to Praxis”.
The discussions at the summit will explore how the Buddha Dhamma’s fundamental values can provide inspiration and guidance in contemporary settings, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
The summit will witness the participation of eminent scholars, Sangha leaders and Dharma practitioners from all over the world, who will discuss pressing global issues and look for answers in the Buddha Dhamma that is based on universal values, the PMO said.
