By India Today News Desk: Hundreds of devotees on Saturday gathered at Delhi’s Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Visuals from the national capital were a sight to behold as people hugged each other after offering namaz.
Officials from the Delhi Police were deployed in the Central District for crowd management at the Jama Masjid.
The month of Ramzan was filled with purity and compassion for all and now the festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country.
EID CELEBRATIONS ACROSS COUNTRY
On Saturday, people across the country offered namaz on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Every year, Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm all over the world.
It marks one of the most significant festivals of the Islamic community.
Eid is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The date of Eid is determined by the sighting of the moon. The day when the moon is visible is known as Chand Mubarak.
PRESIDENT MURMU, PM MODI GREET PEOPLE ON Eid-ul-Fitr
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for the health and well-being of the people.
“Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May the spirit of harmony and compassion be furthered in our society. I also pray for everyone’s wonderful health and well-being. Eid Mubarak!,” PM Modi tweeted.
Similarly, President Droupadi Murmu also took to Twitter to greet citizens on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I wish all the countrymen, especially the Muslim brothers. Congratulations to the sisters. Eid, a festival of love and compassion, gives us a message to help others. Come, on this auspicious occasion of celebration, let’s all pledge together to promote brotherhood in society,” the tweet read.
