By Munish Chandra Pandey: Former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik was questioned for over five hours today by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials in connection with his claim that he was offered Rs 300 crore as a bribe to clear two files during his stint as the Governor of J&K between August 23, 2018 and October 30, 2019. The agency will evaluate his responses to its questions and decide on a further course of action.

Earlier, Malik told India Today TV: “The CBI has asked me to appear before them as they want to clarify certain things about the case. They have verbally asked me to come on April 27 or April 28 as per my comfort.”

Recently, he alleged that he was offered money by RSS and BJP leader Ram Madhav to pass a scheme. Ram Madhav called the allegations baseless and filed a defamation case against Malik.

In April last year, the CBI registered two FIRs in connection with corruption allegations by Malik in the awarding of contracts for a group medical insurance scheme for government employees and civil work worth Rs 2,200 crore related to the Kiru hydroelectric power project in the erstwhile state.
