By Abdul Basheer: Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) will operate from the newly-built secretariat from Sunday, for the first time since assuming the top post in 2014.
KCR will assume his chair in the secretariat building, named after the architect of the Constitution, BR Ambedkar, which is all set for inauguration on the same day.
“As the old secretariat lacked the infrastructure, the CM chose to reconstruct the Secretariat building with all the amenities and safety measures,” state minister Prashant Reddy said.
The new secretariat was constructed at a cost of Rs 617 crores. It has been designed in such a way that all the ministers’ offices, the departments under each minister, and the offices of their respective secretaries and HoDs (Heads of Department) are all located on the same floor or in the same building.
