BJYM protesters break topple police barricade in Kolkata

Violence erupted in West Bengal’s Kaliaganj after a minor tribal girl was allegedly raped and murdered. Members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha overthrew the police barricade in Kolkata. The protesters were on their way to Raj Bhavan. 

BJYM members were protesting over the Kaliganj minor’s death. 

Videos showed police personnel dragging the victim’s body through the street. The crime took place on April 21 in Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur district and the body of the victim was later found by locals. According to police, the girl, who was a resident of Gangua village of Uttar Dinajpur district, went missing on Thursday evening after she went for her tuition. Her family was not able to trace her the entire night, despite extensive searches by relatives and villagers.
