Before riding in a specially designed vehicle and wearing a saffron cap, the prime minister addressed three rallies in the state today.
With flower showers, and flowing Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) flags, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a grand road show in Bengaluru, as a massive crowd added to the election fervor.
The prime minister ended a busy day of campaigning as he held back-to-back rallies in the poll bound Karnataka.
The prime minister, who is leading the saffron party’s election campaign, is on a two day visit to the state.
Saffron hat, and specially designed vehicle
PM Modi flew into the city from Kudachi in Belagavi district in northern Karnataka around 5 pm this evening.
Modi was flanked by Bangalore North MP D V Sadananda Gowda and BJP MLC C Narayanaswamy.
On both sides, large number of people thronged and cheered for the prime minister.
5.3 KMs of enthusiasm
The rally was brimming with enthusiasm and culture with posters dotted everywhere, along with the performance of ‘Dollu Kunita’, a popular drum dance enroute to the show.
The show, which will be 5.3 Kilometers is set to pass through North Bengaluru including and the route will go through Magadi Road, Nice Road Junction to Sumanahalli.
Security and traffic
Security was beefed up, and tight arrangements were made on the route.
Traffic snarls were witnessed due to the roadshow. Police had issued traffic advisory to people asking them to avoid certain roads from where the Prime Minister’s convoy would pass through.
PM Modi’s Karnataka schedule
Modi on Saturday flew in from Delhi and reached Bidar in the morning. He addressed public meetings in Humnabad in Bidar, district headquarter town in Vijayapura and Kudachi in Belagavi district.
The Prime Minister will stay overnight in Bengaluru on Saturday and depart from Raj Bhavan on Sunday morning to hold public meetings in the district headquarter town of Kolar, Channapatna in Ramanagara district and Belur in Hassan district.
He will also hold a roadshow in Mysuru on Sunday before heading back to Delhi.
Karnataka goes to the polls on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13.
