By Kamaljit Kaur Sandhu: Jasvir Singh Jassi, the man who was arrested by the Punjab Police for committing sacrilege at a gurdwara in Morinda, died on Monday. According to the police sources, Jassi was complaining of chest pain and breathlessness before he was shifted to a government hospital.
Jasvir Singh was arrested on April 24 after a video went viral, showing him entering the sanctum sanctorum of Gurdwara Kotwali Sahib in Rupnagar district’s Morinda, hitting the two granthis (priests) and desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib.
After his arrest, Jasvir Singh was produced before a court in Rupnagar on April 27 but man tried to attack him there with a revolver. The man was arrested by the police.
Thereafter, Jasvir Singh was shifted to Mansa jail on April 29 from Rupnagar.
According to police sources, Jasvir Singh was shifted to a government hospital in Mansa after he complained of chest pain and difficutly in breathing.
