By Rittick Mondal: The body of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Bijoy Bhuiya, who was allegedly kidnapped, was found on the roadside in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district, reports said.
The BJP has alleged that goons backed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) killed Bhuiya.
On Monday evening, Bhuiya was returning home with his family when he was attacked by some people. He was then allegedly kidnapped by the miscreants. His body was later found in a pool of blood on the roadside by locals.
Police said he had multiple injuries to his body and an investigation into the incident was initiated.
BJP MLA Ashok Dinda alleged that police were supporting the miscreants, who hurled bombs in the area.
“It was around 5 pm. Our booth president Bijoy Babu was returning home with his family when they were attacked midway by one Monoranjan Hazra and TMC-backed goons. Initially, they targeted his son, but he managed to escape. Then they showed Bijoy a gun and picked him up. After some time, his body was found,” Dinda said.
“We will approach the high court. TMC-backed goons hurled bombs in the area and police were supporting them,” he said.
