A Sikh gurdwara dedicated to Guru Teg Bahadur was made open to the public after 75 years at LOC Teetwal in Kashmir.
The legend says that a dharamshala and gurdwara existed before Partition. Both religious establishments were destroyed in tribal raids and during Partition in 1947.
On September 14, 2021, members of the Save Sharda Committee led by Ravinder Pandita visited LOC Teetwal for the annual Sharda yatra. Save Sharda’s staement reads that locals and the army officials handed over the land to the committee for reconstructing the dharamshala and gurdwara.
The statement further read that not a single Hindu or Sikh person resides in Teetwal and local Muslims had preserved the plot.
“As per revenue records, 5 marlas of land are recorded as Sikh land called ‘Ahl-e-Singha’ and 18 marlas as Hindu land called ‘Ahl-e-Hanood’. The land was demarcated and Bhumi Pujan was done on December 2, 2021,” it said.
