Vikramaditya Motwane’s Amazon Prime Video show Jubilee has been receiving praises ever since it started streaming on the platform earlier this month. Along with its content, its actors too are gaining praise for their convincing performances. Among the ensemble cast of Jubilee, Wamiqa Gabbi is one such performer that has impressed the audience with her skills.
Wamiqa Gabbi took inspiration from Rekha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Jubilee song ‘Babuji Bhole Bhale’
The story of Jubilee is based around the Hindi film industry of the 1940s. Wamiqa plays a courtesan Niloufer who aspires to be an actress. Her act in the song ‘Babuji Bhole Bhale’ is the highlight of her performance. The actress has said that she took inspiration from the legendary actress Rekha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to perform the song number.
Sharing more about her performance, Wamiqa said in a statement, “Playing a character from a period drama is extremely tricky because we tend to caricature people as we have seen in the movies. However, the dance sequences are different since they used to have very subtle movements and heavy eye and facial expressions. To get those right, I have followed actresses like Rekhaji, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and watched songs by legendary actresses over and over again to prepare for the peppy jazzy number ‘Babuji Bhole Bhale’”.
Jubilee also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Sidhant Gupta, Nandish Sandhu and Ram Kapoor in pivotal roles.
