By Rajesh Saha: Two workers reportedly died after falling into a 24,000-litre oil tanker in a soap factory in Kolkata’s Tijala area on Saturday. The tanker, which was being unloaded at Tiljala Road’s VVF India Limited contained neem oil that was required to manufacture soaps.

THE CASE

When the oil tanker was being unloaded, at around 5.45 pm, a worker identified as Kartick Halder, 43, fell inside it while measuring the level of neem oil inside the tanker. Soon after this, he reportedly fell unconscious and died.

In order to rescue Kartick, another worker, identified as Logan Nathan, 33, also fell into the tanker and lost his life.

The authorities in the factory immediately informed the fire brigade, after which the disaster management group (DMG) of Kolkata Police also arrived. Both the bodies were then recovered from the oil tanker.
