By Siraj Qureshi: Three children were killed and other 3 were injured in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra on Thursday morning after a speeding car ran over them on the Fatehabad Road. The children from the Springfield School were waiting for their school bus on the roadside outside Bas Mahapat village, when the accident took place.
The deceased children were identified as Arvind, Pragya, and Gunjan, reports said. The driver who was allegedly driving in an inebriated state, was arrested by the police. However, three other people who accompanied him in the car fled the scene.

The vehicle involved in the crash was extensively damaged, and is also in police custody. According to police, there were four people in the car, three of whom managed to flee, while the driver was apprehended by the villagers.
The driver was identifed as Akash, who was allegedly driving drunk at the time of the tragedy and was sent for some medical tests later.
Sameer, a social worker, said it was surprising that such young children were left alone on a risky path like Fatehabad Road to wait for a bus when they should have been accompanied by a parent.

“Vehicles travel at high speeds on this road because it is a state highway that connects to the Agra-Lucknow and Agra-Noida Expressways. Children should not be allowed to go alone on the road under such conditions,” he said.
Meanwhile, police are on the lookout for the rest of the passengers in the car.
