By Pramod Madhav: On a busy Tuesday morning, four coaches of a moving suburban train got detached near Saidapet here leaving passengers panicky and disrupting train services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram-Chengalapattu.
Passengers travelling on suburban train were left shocked after coach connecters snapped leaving behind four compartments. The train started from Beach station at 5 am and was heading towards Chengalpattu.
While picking up momentum from the Saidapet railway station, the train detached got detached from rest of the coaches. Maintenance staff rushed to the spot and the damaged coach was moved to the locomotive workshop. The passengers urged that railway authorities conduct a thorough investigation.
All other EMU suburban trains between Egmore and Chengalpattu were diverted. This led to a disruption in train service between Beach station to Chengalpattu for nearly one-and-a-half hours.
