4 killed, 22 injured after truck hits bus on Pune-Bangalore highway

By Pankaj P. Khelkar: Four people lost their lives and 18 others were injured in a major accident involving a cargo truck and a private bus in Maharashtra’s Pune in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The accident took place on the Navale Bridge area, adjacent to the Swami Narayan temple on the Pune-Bengaluru highway, in Narhe village in Ambegaon area of Pune.

According to reports, the cargo truck was carrying 31 sugar sacks when it collided with the luxury bus, resulting in a massive impact that caused the vehicle to overturn.

Firefighting teams immediately rushed to the scene, with a total of seven firefighting vehicles, including one rescue van and one rescue van from PMRDA, joining the rescue effort. The injured were promptly rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
