By India Today News Desk: The pilot of an Air India flight is facing a probe after he entertained a female friend in the cockpit of the aircraft.
The incident happened on February 27, while the flight was on its way from Dubai to Delhi.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the incident had violated safety norms.
An investigation into the case was underway, the DGCA said.
There was no information on whether the pilot was taken off duty.
Earlier on April 18, a Delhi-bound Air India flight asked for a priority landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport after a suspected windshield crack.
However, the aircraft landed normally. The flight originated from Pune.
The same day, a Srinagar-bound SpiceJet flight returned to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport after a false warning, the airline spokesperson said.
Last week, the DGCA in a report said flight problems and baggage comprised the majority of a total of 347 passenger complaints received by the scheduled domestic airlines during March this year.
The report further stated the number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for March 2023 has been around 0.27.
Further, according to the aviation regulator, a total of 38.6 per cent of complaints were about flight-related problems, while 22.2 per cent were related to baggage problems. The refund-related problems were just 11.5 per cent.
“Refund and Staff behaviour related complaints have seen significant improvement in the last three months. In January, there were 23.7 per cent of complaints related to refunds have come down to 11.5. Similarly, complaints related to staff behaviour that was 8.9 per cent in January have come to 4 per cent,” read the report.
