By Simer Chawla: The three shooters, who killed gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf last week, revealed that they admired notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and wanted to emulate him, police sources said.
During interrogation, the three shooters — Sunny Singh, Arun Maurya and Lavlesh Tiwari — said they became fans of Lawrence Bishnoi following the killing of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala in May last year, police sources added.
The killers said they watched Lawrence Bishnoi’s interviews many times in the past.
Police sources said that during questioning, it was revealed that Sunny Singh was the most dangerous among the three shooters.

Sunny Singh has more than a dozen cases registered against him and he was the one who brought the other two shooters with him and encouraged them to commit the murder.
MURDER OF ATIQ AHMED AND HIS BROTHER
On the night of April 15, Atiq and Ashraf were shot dead in police custody in Prayagraj. The duo, accused in the Umesh Pal case, was on their way to a medical investigation and was talking to mediapersons when they were shot dead. The entire incident was captured live on camera.
The three assailants, who carried out the shooting, posed as journalists and used Zigana pistols to eliminate Atiq and Ashraf in the presence of police. After the shooting, the assailants were nabbed by the police and sent to 14-day judicial custody.

According to an FIR by the Uttar Pradesh Police, the three shooters said they wanted to kill gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf “to become popular and big gangsters”.
The shooters said they killed Atiq and Ashraf because they wanted to achieve something huge in the crime world.
