By Abhishek Anand: Priya Singh, the sister of Umesh Pal’s gunner Raghavendra, who was killed in the attack on Umesh Pal, lambasted SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and other Opposition leaders for questioning the encounter of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his associate Ghulam.
“Those questioning the encounter are the sympathisers of people like Atiq Ahmed. These are the ones who helped Atiq grow his criminal empire. If they think Atiq is a poor victim, then they should come to our homes and see what poor means. My brother was everything to our family. He was like a strong pillar who took care of all of us,” said Priya, who lives in Raebareli.
Asad, Ghulam and other accused were captured on CCTV during the killing of Umesh Pal and his two gunners, including Raghavendra.
“When the government is doing justice to us, why are they raising questions? How can gangsters kill policemen and roam free?” she asked.
“Those who are saying that the encounter was wrong must be in my shoes once and see how broken we are due to the loss of our young brother,” said Priya.
Slamming the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, she said, “If Akhilesh is saying the encounter was wrong, then he is supporting Atiq. If we citizens don’t support justice and law, then who will?”
Thanking the Uttar Pradesh government, she said, “We are thankful to the UP government for doing justice to us. Our brother was killed for no reason. He was a bright young man and was supporting the family financially.”
Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad, who is wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, was killed in an encounter on Thursday by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Jhansi.
