By India Today News Desk: In the midst of speculations surrounding a potential ban on right-wing group Bajrang Dal in Karnataka after the Congress’s mangnaminous win in the assembly elections, senior party leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday emphasized that the youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) promotes a politics rooted in hatred and violence. He urged people not to associate Bajrang Dal with Bajrang Bali (Lord Hanuman).
“Bajrang Dal is different and Bajrang Bali is different. Bajrang Dal believes in spreading the politics of hatred and violence,” he said in an interview with news agency ANI.
Lauding the grand old party for staging an emphatic comeback in the southern state, Ramesh said the people are now “tired” of the prime minister and his campaigns. “People are tired of PM & his campaign, no matter how many roadshows he did, but people were not enthusiastic,” he said.
After Congress clinched victory in Karnataka with 135 seats on Saturday, Jairam Ramesh said the prime minister was under the impression that BJP is ‘anantavijayam’ (forever victorious) but that was not the case.

In an interview with PTI, Ramesh said, he said the people of Karnataka have given a clear mandate against the prime minister. “It is a decisive mandate for the Congress and an overwhelming vote against the prime minister and not just the BJP, because the architect of BJP’s campaign was the prime minister.”
“It was PM, PM and PM. The campaign of the BJP in Karnataka was of the PM, by the PM and for the PM and all those three have been rejected,” Ramesh further added.
With the Karnataka election results out, the Congress has returned to power on its own in Karnataka after 10 years, unseating BJP from the only southern state it reigned.
