Bajrang Dal not afraid of ban threat in Karnataka: Right wing outfit VHP

[ad_1]

By India Today News Desk: The Bajrang Dal is not afraid of the Congress’s threat of ban in Karnataka, a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) functionary said on Saturday, reported news agency. The Congress in its Karnataka manifesto vowed to ban organisations like the Bajrang Dal and the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the state if voted to power and on May 13, wrested power back from the BJP.

“If they ban the Bajrang Dal out of their hatred for the Hindus, necessary steps will be taken,” VHP’s general secretary Milind Parande told reporters in Indore.

During the Ram janmabhoomi movement, the Bajrang Dal was banned but the court quashed it, calling it wrong, he said.

The Congress’s poll promise led to a major row during the campaign for Karnataka polls after the party, in its manifesto, said that it was committed to taking firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations spreading hatred among communities on caste or religion and cited the examples of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and Bajrang Dal.

Congress veteran and former Chief Minister of Karnataka Veerappa Moily later clarified that there was no proposal to ban the Bajrang Dal and that the only mission of the Congress is to “stop hate politics”.

“Banning an outfit is not possible by a state government. A ban on Bajrang Dal is not possible by the Karnataka government… We have no proposal to ban the Bajrang Dal. I can tell you this as a leader,” Moily had said.
