Bengal man electrocuted while drying clothes on electric wire. Mom-in-law, wife who rushed to help also die

By India Today News Desk: Three people — all from the same family — were killed in Kolkata’s Ekbalpore area after contact with an electric wire. The mishap took place when a man was drying clothes on the electric cable. He suffered an electric shock following which his wife and mother-in-law rushed to help him. The two were also suffered electric shocks.

The three were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared the mother and daughter dead on arrival. The man was admitted for treatment, but later passed away from his injuries.

The mother and daughter were killed on the spot, while the man passed away from his injuries at a hospital.

One Izhar Akhtar, who was the son-in-law of the deceased mother, was grievously injured while he was drying his wet clothes as the electric current ran through the metal wire which was hinged on a wall. He has been admitted to the Ekbalpore Nursing Home.

The mother-daughter duo were also electrocuted while trying to save the man. They were shifted to SSKM Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata where they were declared brought dead.

The deceased were identified as Izhar Akhtar, Muntaha Begum and Khairul Nessa.

The incident took place early Sunday morning in Kolkata’s Ekbalpore area. After the incident, officials of the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited visited the site of the mishap to check the cable that caused the accident.
