Bengal man starts free ambulance service after lack of transport kills his father

[ad_1]

By Suryagni Roy: A man in West Bengal started offering free ambulance services to the needy people after he lost his father due to lack of transportation services.

Shafiqul Haque, a resident of Vitihar in Raiganj block of Uttar Dinajpur district, was devastated when he lost his father in 2014. The reason was the lack of transportation facilities, which prevented Shafiqul from taking his sick father to the hospital on time. This traumatic experience led Shafiqul to start a free ambulance service in the area.

Shafiqul realized there was a lack of ambulances or cars in rural areas. Moreover, divers take advantage of people’s helplessness and ask for exorbitant fares, leaving patients and their families in a vulnerable position.

As Shafiqul’s events and decoration business grew, he thought that it would be helpful for many if there were more ambulances or cars which can ferry people to hospitals.

Shafiqul said usually there are many cars available during the day but cars do not run in rural areas at night. To address this issue, Shafiqul began offering night ambulance services for free which has already benefited several villages adjacent to VTR and even a part of neighbouring Bihar.

Anyone in need can call Shafiqul for assistance no matter how late it is.
