By Pankaj Jain: This is the most corrupt government in the country after Independence, and it is essential for all opposition parties to unite and change the government in power, said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, alluding to the Central government being ruled by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).

The Delhi chief minister gave the statement on Wednesday after meeting Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and his Deputy Tejashwi Yadav in Delhi.

Asked if Nitish Kumar is worth being a prime ministerial candidate, Kejriwal told reporters, “You will have many questions in your mind which cannot be answered right now after just one meeting. As we move forward, we will keep answering your questions.

Janata Dal (United) president Lalan Singh, Rajya Sabha MPs from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha were also present during the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

Today’s meeting comes a day after Nitish Kumar met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad in Delhi.

During their meeting, Yadav and Kumar discussed the current political situation amid efforts to strengthen the Opposition unity to take on the BJP in the 2024 parliamentary elections, PTI reported.

Speaking to reporters, Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said he had been in touch over the phone with Lalu Prasad, who had undergone a kidney transplant recently, about his health, and it was important to meet him physically, so he met him.

Nitish Kumar landed in Delhi yesterday and was expected to meet a slew of opposition leaders during his stay in the national capital. Nitish Kumar had also visited Delhi in September last year when he met several top leaders, including Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, D Raja, Sitaram Yechury and Akhilesh Yadav.

The JD(U), the RJD, the Congress and the Left parties are part of the ruling alliance in Bihar.
