By India Today News Desk: The bodies of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad and his aide Ghulam are being taken to a mortuary in Prayagraj from Jhansi by Uttar Pradesh Police for the last rites. Two ambulances and an Uttar Pradesh police van were seen taking the bodies to the mortuary in Prayagraj.
Asad Ahmed, son of gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed and his aide Ghulam were killed in an encounter by UP Police’s Special Task Force.
The last rites of Atiq Ahmed’s son will be performed by his relatives from the maternal side at the cemetery of Kasari Masari in front of the gangster-politician’s house. Meanwhile, Ghulam’s family has refused to take his body and the Uttar Pradesh Police will perform his last rites.
Atiq’s son will be buried in Prayagraj at the Kasari Masari Kabristan used by Atiq Ahmed’s family. Tight security arrangements have been made from Prayagraj’s Dhumanganj Chakia to the cemetery. Barricades have been put up from Dhumanganj Chakia Tirahe to cemetery in Kasari Masari in Prayagraj.

On Friday evening, a large number of people gathered in Atiq Ahmed’s locality, Kasari Masari, following rumours that Asad’s body was being brought to Prayagraj. However, since the body was not been handed over to relatives till late Friday evening, it is expected that the last rites would be performed on Saturday.
Asad and Ghulam, were gunned down by Uttar Pradesh police in an encounter in Jhansi on Thursday. Both were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case and had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on their heads.

Asad was last seen in CCTV footage doing rounds, where he was attacking Pal. He had been on the run since.
According to police statements, Asad, who was accompanied by an accomplice named Ghulam, opened fire at the cops who were trying to arrest him. The duo were killed in retaliatory firing, police said.
Meanwhile, Atiq Ahmed, who is currently in police custody in the Umesh Pal murder case, has sought permission from a magistrate to attend the funeral of his son Asad.
