By Anupam Mishra: The Border Road Organisation (BRO) on Monday rescued 40 tourists who were left stranded near Nathula in Sikkim due to heavy rainfall. These tourists were rescued by BRO Karmayogies when sudden heavy rainfall lashed Nathula.
After being rescued, the tourists were served hot meals and given shelter in the BRO detachments by Karamyogis of project Swastik of BRO.
They were sent back to Gangtok after a road was opened by project Swastik of BRO.
The rescue operation was done under DG Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary. The weather conditions worsened in Sikkim due to unprecedented heavy rains, snow, and hail storms from March 15-17.
